Power Dynamos retained the top spot of the Zambia Super League table after defeating Nkwazi Football Club in a thrilling contest played on Saturday, December 1, 2024, at the Nkoloma Stadium.

Brian Masanyinga, who returned to haunt his former team with an unstoppable volley in the 18th minute, scored the first goal for the Kitwe giants. He capitalised on a loose ball and pinpointed his target from beyond the box.

The visiting side added another goal in the 30th minute through Ishmael Eddie Ankobo to cushion their lead. The striker unleashed a thunderbolt, much to the delight of the supporters.

The match went into halftime with Power Dynamos holding a commanding lead with two goals.

The second half posed a much different type of tact as Nkwazi broke out of their shells and attacked Power Dynamos relentlessly. Their efforts paid off in the 78th minute when Joseph Phiri’s header found the back of the net.

Head Coach Osward Mutapa made crucial substitutions to protect his lead, bringing in John Soko and Aaron Katebe in place of Ishmael Eddies Ankobo and Austin Muwowo. Earlier, Linos Makwaza Jr. replaced the captain, Salulani Phiri.

Power Dynamos sealed off the emphatic victory in the 87th minute through Siame Sekanji, who cleverly chipped the ball over the keeper. The win sends ‘Aba Yellow’ back to the top at par with Kabwe Warriors, who also have 28 points, as the Kitwe side enjoys the head-to-head advantage with two goals over their rivals.
