Power Dynamos Football Club (PDFC) has taken the lead in the MTN Super League for the first time this season, thanks to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Mutondo Stars FC at home on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

The first genuine opportunity for Power Dynamos came to Ishmael Eddie Ankobo, approximately thirty minutes into the match. The forward received a pass from Kondwani Chiboni and unfortunately sent his shot off target.

Mutondo Stars demonstrated remarkable resilience as the first half concluded in a deadlock, effectively neutralising the attacking threat posed by Power Dynamos.

Half time substitute Salulani Phiri’s 49th-minute header sealed the deal, marking Power’s fifth consecutive win in a roll.

Despite Mutondo Stars’ resilient defence, the Osward Mutapa-led squad showed determination and skill.

The match saw several nail-biting moments including Austin Muwowo’s disallowed goal, multiple penalty calls, and desperate interventions from Dominic Chanda and Lawrence Mulenga to keep power in the lead.

Power Dynamos now tops the league with 22 points, surpassing ZESCO United FC on goal difference after the latter drew with Green Buffaloes FC.

In the 90+ minutes, Power Dynamos recorded 14 fouls, three corners, five offsides and three shots on target, as well as four yellow cards.

Power Dynamos will face second placed, ZESCO United in their week 12 fixture after the international break.
