Power Dynamos Football Club (PDFC) secured victory at Nakambala Stadium in their Zambian Premier League (ZPL) week eight match against Maestro United of Zambia (FC MUZA).

The team has now moved to third place on the log standings with 13 points, trailing league leaders, ZESCO United, who currently have 19 points. The second spot is being held by Mutondo Stars with 15 points.

Moses Phiri found himself with a golden opportunity in the 27th minute but blasted the ball over the bar. Other opportunities came along but unfortunately, the boys failed to capitalise.

The initial stanza of the match concluded without any goals scored.

As the second half commenced, the technical bench made substitutions, bringing on Linos Makwaza Jr and Jacob Kaunda in place of Moses Phiri and Ismael Ankobo, respectively.

Two minutes into the second half, Captain Prince Mumba made his mark by scoring with a powerful long-range shot that left the FC MUZA goal custodian with no chance.

During the match, Linos Makwaza Jr, Owen Tembo, and Prince Mumba received yellow cards.

Further, Prince Mumba, Fredrick Mulambia, and Austin Muwowo made way for Salulani Phiri, Moses Mulenga, and Faustin Bakodila at different intervals.

In the final moments of the game, Bakodila made way for a penalty, but Willard Mwanza stepped up to save the day for his team, making a crucial stop against Andrew Phiri’s spot kick just as the referee signalled the end of the match.

The game concluded with a scoreline of 0:1, in favour of Power Dynamos FC.

During his post match interview, Head Coach Osward Mutapa described the game as ‘tough’, emphasising that his team exhibited great technical skills. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining consistency in the games ahead.

Mutapa expressed gratitude to the fans for their tremendous support, encouraging them to show up in large numbers for the upcoming game against Kabwe Warriors at their home turf, on Sunday, October 26, 2024.
